Regardless of my initial skepticism regarding the difficulty of undertaking a task, its progress invariably surpasses my expectations. This motivates me to advance professionally toward the objective. In addition, there are a few seniors who have motivated me to embody excellence in my professional endeavors.

In my daily work life, inspiration stems from various sources. Challenges drive problem-solving and growth, while collaboration sparks creativity and offers fresh insights. Continuous learning expands my skills, and constructive feedback fuels improvement. Lastly, knowing my work has a real-world impact fuels my sense of purpose. How do you balance your personal and professional life as a woman?

“Time” Anyone who knows how to manage this can balance both personal life and professional life. Setting out priorities at the right time and ensuring they are done. While it is important to give equal time to family and colleagues, it is equally important to give time for self-care too.

Maintaining a consistent routine will help you succeed in your personal and professional endeavors. For me, as a single woman, the most important thing right now is advancing in my career.

It is extremely important to strike a balance between the two. As a mother, I make it a point to begin my day as early as possible and finish all of my assignments at home first. Following that, I get to work. In the meantime, I make sure that my child is also well taken care of.

Personal and professional work life balance is an important thing. As important as our work is, we should be able to prioritize ourselves. Every day, dedicate some time to oneself and be engaged in some activity other than professional work that makes us happy and alive.

I have identified a few good mentors, and I have begun the process of constructing a support system. Through their own experiences and areas of expertise, they offered advice, direction, and feedback to me. In addition to providing a sounding board for ideas, they also assisted in navigating problems and provided perspective on decisions regarding my career.

The most difficult obstacle for me is passing the CMA exam on the very first attempt. Not only was I going to work, but I was also going to be attending my professional course alongside that. So it has been quite challenging for me to deal with both of them at the same time. However, I was able to handle the situation with the assistance of my family and my coworkers.

Yes, I’ve been fortunate to have mentors and sponsors who’ve greatly assisted in my career journey. One standout mentor, a senior data scientist, provided guidance through technical challenges, offered career advice, and advocated for me in advancement opportunities. What would you change about the assumptions made by men of women?
Syeda Zarin
I would change assumptions made by men about women by promoting empathy, understanding, and respect. This includes challenging stereotypes and biases through open dialogue and education on gender equality. We can create a more inclusive environment that values women for their individual talents and perspectives by encouraging diverse representation and fostering allyship.
Anju Chandra
There is still a belief among men of older generations that there are gender-based roles. For instance, the kitchen is reserved for women and this practice originated from the generations that came before them. As a result, I want to make those things different by being a responsible parent and also by raising my child in a more responsible manner.

Changing assumptions about women involves raising awareness, challenging stereotypes, promoting diversity and inclusion, and advocating for systemic changes that support gender equality in all aspects of society. It requires a collective effort to create a more equitable and inclusive world for all genders.
What advice would you give to younger women who are just starting out in this field?

As a woman, I strongly advise the young women embarking on their careers to take the time to prepare themselves beforehand. The skills and knowledge acquired through formal education may not fully align with the demands of the workplace, making preparation essential. So, always prepare yourself, foster confidence and self belief.

Establishing personal goals and successfully accomplishing them serves as a source of motivation and inspiration. Embracing unfamiliar territory and fresh challenges outside of one’s comfort zone. Engaging in dialogue with colleagues not only exposes me to novel concepts and perspectives but also serves as a source of inspiration when I hear about their accomplishments. Receiving recognition for my efforts is a significant source of motivation and inspiration. Receiving constructive feedback on my work serves as valuable guidance and inspiration for improvement.
